  • Week 7: 193.2
  • Week 8: 191.2
  • Week 9: 194.6

  • Week 15: 201.4
  • Week 16: 198.8
  • Week 17: 201.6
  • Week 18: 201.4
  • Week 19: 203.0 (up 18.4 overall)

Exercise:

I’m on week 5 (day 1 and 2) of the C25K. Week 5, day 3 moves from two 8-minute runs to a solid 20 minute run which I am not comfortable with yet so I am doing an extra week of days 1 and 2 of week 5. I’m thinking, on Sunday or Monday, I will try doing one set of day 3 and see how it goes. In other exercising progress I started doing planks again to work on my core and upper arm strength. I am also doing a lot more stretching since my sciatic nerve is acting up as well as my rotator cuff. Nothing that can’t be fixed with due diligence but also can’t be ignored or it will become an injury.

Diet:

Same as last week and I only had coke a couple times. Better than every day but I need to just cut it cold turkey. Problem is that I substitute ice cream when I don’t drink the coke! Ugh, get off the roller coaster already..

Overall:

Hold steady but haven’t been getting enough sleep (only 4-5 hours for the last couple nights) which is going to cause me to crash before too long. Pretty sure the extra two pounds this week are from my hormones from the lack of sleep, it always screws me up pretty bad when I’m sleep deprived. I took three days off from running this last week because of the fatigue from the sleep deprivation but I think that ended up hurting more than helping. I got back into running today despite only 4 hours sleep last night and I DO feel better this morning even though I will probably crash and burn this evening. We shall see..

Love and God’s blessings,
Sarah

Friday Weight Check – Week 18

Starting weight: 184.6 lbs

Start of pregnancy: 06-09-17

Due Date: 03-08-18

  • Week 6: 191.6 (doctor appt that confirmed pregnancy)
  • Week 7: 193.2
  • Week 8: 191.2
  • Week 9: 194.6
  • Week 10: 191.0

  • Week 16: 198.8
  • Week 17: 201.6
  • Week 18: 201.4 (up 16.8 overall)

Exercise:

I’m on week 4 of the C25K program. I did week one and half of week two in the first week. On the second week I finished week two and did week three as well. On Tuesday of this week I started week four and it kicked my butt! I’m still doing two workouts per day (meaning I did the 31 minute workout two times for a total of 62 minutes and 4.6 miles!) but instead of doing the third day of week four on Thursday and going on to week five I had to skip working out till Friday (today) and it was too hard on the first leg so I decided to keep to the schedule for week four. That means tomorrow I will do the third day of week 4 and see how I feel about starting the first day of week 5. I keep kicking around the idea of adding some strength exercises but I re-hurt my left rotator cuff and I’m afraid of doing anything upper body to make it worse.

Diet:

Same as last week only I have a super secret that is killing me… I started drinking coke again!! Gasp!! Such an ugly habit, pray hard for me to not let it become a regular thing.

Overall:

Weight is the same but clothes are fitting fine and bloating is down significantly. Mentally, I’m dealing with the fallout of opening myself up to the coke habit again. I know having it three times doesn’t make it a habit but it was almost three days in a row! That’s dangerous territory.. Let’s see how it shakes out next week.

Love and God’s blessings,
Sarah

Friday Weight Check – Week 17

Starting weight: 184.6 lbs

Start of pregnancy: 06-09-17

Due Date: 03-08-18

  • Week 6: 191.6 (doctor appt that confirmed pregnancy)
  • Week 7: 193.2
  • Week 8: 191.2
  • Week 9: 194.6
  • Week 10: 191.0
  • Surprise! Ultrasound says we are actually on week 12.
  • Week 12: 192.2
  • Week 13: Labor Day weekend, on vacation, no scale
  • Week 14: 197.0
  • Week 15: 201.4
  • Week 16: 198.8
  • Week 17: 201.6 (up 17 overall)

Exercise:

I just finished week 3 of the C25K program which has me doing 2 splits of 90 seconds run, 90 seconds of walk, 3 minute run, 3 minute walk. I do two full sets of those each morning combined with a 5 minute warm up and 5 minute cool down put me at 46 minutes altogether for my exercising. I do the run/walk program every other day. Despite my weight going up I noticed better muscle definition in my legs and arms so I know it’s conversion of fat to muscle increasing my weight which is just fine with me.

Diet:

Much the same except I noticed on Myfitnesspal that my calories are increasing to 1700-1800 on the days I run. I seem to just be hungry all the time! However, I seem to make better food choices on the days I run so I’m not sure it’s a bad thing. It would be nice to see the weight go down but since I AM pregnant its not too likely anyway.

Overall:

Not much to say, heartburn days are still a struggle since I still tend to try to eat it away and it’s just plain miserable. Sleeping on those nights tends to get iffy and that’s a mental struggle as well as physical. I think all the running tends to help somehow since I have had less heartburn days lately. Oh, and I got myself back onto a good multivitamin again so that might help as well. I’m pretty terrible about taking pills with any regularity.

Love and God’s blessings,
Sarah

Friday Weight Check – Week 16

Starting weight: 184.6 lbs

Start of pregnancy: 06-09-17

Due Date: 03-08-18

  • Week 6: 191.6 (doctor appt that confirmed pregnancy)
  • Week 7: 193.2
  • Week 8: 191.2
  • Week 9: 194.6
  • Week 10: 191.0

  • Week 14: 197.0
  • Week 15: 201.4
  • Week 16: 198.8 (up 14.2 overall)

Exercise:

Still working on my Couch-to-5K program so I can run the Hot Chocolate 5K on November 5th, I admit to feeling much better on the days I do the run/walk program and much more tired on the days I skip. The program takes 8 weeks, which I don’t have, so I’ve been doing two days in one (two 30-minute sessions 4 days a week) and since the C25K program only has you training 3 days a week that means I am accomplishing 2 weeks training per week that I am combining. Clear as mud, right? Anyway, it works for me so far. I should probably be doing some strength training on the off 2 days (and I always take Sunday off) but I’m not to that stage yet.

Diet:

Doing much better with my food choices although not stellar. I still eat about 40% carbs and 30% protein and 30% fat. I’m around 1600 calories a day, which is fine since I’m running and also pregnant. I’d like to try to get the carbs down and the protein up but since I’m slowly losing again I will leave it be and see how it shakes out next week. I like the flexibility in the diet with the 40% carbs but only if I can still maintain weight with it.

Overall:

Much better over last week!  Pleased that my weight is back under 200#s.  Silly, I know, but still..

Love and God’s blessings,
Sarah

Friday Weight Check – Week 15

Starting weight: 184.6 lbs

Start of pregnancy: 06-09-17

Due Date: 03-08-18

  • Week 6: 191.6 (doctor appt that confirmed pregnancy)
  • Week 7: 193.2
  • Week 8: 191.2
  • Week 9: 194.6
  • Week 10: 191.0
  • Surprise! Ultrasound says we are actually on week 12.
  • Week 12: 192.2
  • Week 13: Labor Day weekend, on vacation, no scale
  • Week 14: 197.0
  • Week 15: 201.4 (up 16.8 overall)

Exercise:

Today was my first day training for the 5K. I did a 5 minute walk followed by a 2.5 minute jog for 48 minutes. A total of 2.6 miles. I feel better today! The goal will be to increase my jogging as I decrease my walking over the course of the next month so that I can jog the entire 3.1 miles of the 5K. The Hot Chocolate 5K/15K is on November 5th which gives me 50 days.

Diet:

Not good at all as you can tell from the scale! I have been surviving on coffee and chocolate and carbs. Unfortunately, that means my heartburn is at it’s maximum pain level, that also means it’s hard to eat anything dense because it hurts my already inflamed esophagus. However, I freaked about the scale being over 200 for the first time since losing the weight and already gained back control of my diet. I’m going to eat an alkaline diet (combined with 6  very small meals instead of the 4 medium size and snacking I have been doing) for the indefinite future so the heart burn is as controlled as possible for the rest of the pregnancy. I have always had bad heart burn when pregnant and since I developed GERDS with the surgery that means it’s extra bad when I’m not eating right (coffee and chocolate are HUGE no-nos!) With the exercise and better diet I expect to see the scale move down appropriately next week.

Overall:

Pretty depressed for a bit about the scale but it was the catalyst for me heading out the door and getting my run/walk in first thing this morning. Already my head is better with the good-for-me-foods and the exercise. My husband is heading out of town again today (he was gone all week already and just home for the night) for the weekend so it will be a struggle to keep going till he’s home to help with kids and keep me honest with myself.

Love and God’s blessings,
Sarah

Friday Weight Check – Week 14

Starting weight: 184.6 lbs

Start of pregnancy: 06-09-17

Due Date: 03-08-18

  • Week 6: 191.6 (doctor appt that confirmed pregnancy)
  • Week 7: 193.2
  • Week 8: 191.2
  • Week 9: 194.6
  • Week 10: 191.0
  • Surprise! Ultrasound says we are actually on week 12.
  • Week 12: 192.2
  • Week 13: Labor Day weekend, on vacation, no scale
  • Week 14: 197.0 (up 12.4 overall)

Exercise:

Before Labor Day weekend I was up to jogging a bit while walking and it was making me feel much better. However, since the weekend I’ve had a lot of fatigue and nausea and subsequently I haven’t been walking or doing any exercise at all. I’m pretty disappointed but trying to muster the energy to get back into the swing of things. A friend at Church suggested a 5K in November and it might be the motivation I need to get started again.

Diet:

Not good overall. Too many carbs and sweets and not enough protein. I am really struggling with my fluids and find myself dehydrated more often than not this last week. My heart burn has stepped up significantly and it’s causing a lot of pain and discomfort. Really hard to eat substantial food (dense foods like fiber and protein) because it all seems to get stuck because of the inflammation from the heart burn. I keep turning to carbs and sweets because they are easier to eat but then I’m also sabotaging my weight. It occurred to me, just today, that I can maybe try to get more protein in shakes and smoothies, which wouldn’t get stuck as bad, and get my diet back on track.

Overall:

As can be expected with the weight increase and the lack of exercising I am quite a bit on the gloomy side and definitely feeling bad both emotionally and physically. I DO realize that just changing a few minor things would help a great deal and writing it all down, like this, really brings it into focus. Pray I can muster the strength of character to make those changes…

Love and God’s blessings,
Sarah

Friday Weight Check – Week 12, surprise!

Starting weight: 184.6 lbs

Start of pregnancy: 06-09-17

Due Date: 03-08-18

  • Week 6: 191.6 (doctor appt that confirmed pregnancy)
  • Week 7: 193.2
  • Week 8: 191.2
  • Week 9: 194.6
  • Week 10: 191.0
  • Surprise! Ultrasound says we are actually on week 12.
  • Week 12: 192.2 (up 7.6 overall)

Exercise:

My OB said I need to up my exercises to fight the severe fatigue. I am ordered to walk but I need to do something to make sure I break a sweat for at least 10 minutes. Right now I am walking for 40 minutes with 10 minutes of very light jogging that increases my heart rate enough to break a sweat. Not fun but I do think in the last two days I have been a “little” less tired.

Diet:

Same as last week but ate some dessert with the kids almost every night last week so that accounts for the increase in weight.

Overall:

Really happy to get a week advance on the pregnancy! That much closer to the end of the miserable morning (all day) nausea. Not so happy about the orders to increase exercise when I already feel overwhelmed, however, I have to admit I feel a little better.

Love and God’s blessings,
Sarah
