It’s a boy! Our son was born on 03-01-2018, 8lb 8oz., 19.75”.. delivery was my fastest and easiest yet. I would like to believe it was the weight loss over the last (almost) two years. I was also feeling great within hours of delivery, moving around easily and I didn’t have the emotional fall-out of all my previous pregnancies.
Here are the stats:
Starting weight: 184.6 lbs
Start of pregnancy: 06-09-17
Weight at Labor and Delivery on 02-28-18: 236.4 lbs
Total weight gain: 51.8 lbs
Now for the good news:
1 week after delivery: 211.4 (-25 lbs)
2 weeks after delivery: 207.6 (-3.8)
3 weeks after delivery: 208.4 (+0.8)
Haven’t started yet since I’m only 3 weeks post-partum, however, I have been moving a lot and doing regular chores, etc., to get some momentum going and rebuilding some of the lost muscle mass. I expect my weight to plateau, or even increase, for the next couple weeks as I add back in exercising. I plan to walk for the first couple months and slowly add back in body weights and core strength building exercises.
Heartburn disappeared within days of delivering my son (yeh!!!) and so I cut out a lot of the snacking. However, my habits have been programmed to move automatically to carb snacks when I’m hungry, a common problem when I am first breast feeding, so I need to reprogram my brain to reach for protein dense snacks instead. My goal will be to work towards restocking my kitchen cabinet with protein rich snacks and to look there first when I’m hungry. I also need to drink more water and non-caffeinated drinks. Way too much coffee and not nearly enough water in the last couple weeks.
I’m pretty happy but very tired (duh, newborn in the house) and, of course, would like the weight to drop off like the first week but it’s not very realistic. I need to keep plugging away at my goals and try to get more sleep.
Love and God’s blessings,
